I’m scratching my head right now because I just don’t understand how people can actually be stupid. I don’t get it, really.

To be at the place in society where we actually say abortion is good and protected by laws… aren’t we actually breaking a law at the same time? You know, that whole First Degree Murder definition? But we made killing babies legal so technically it’s not murder… but it’s still a killing.

The definition of life, as stated in the Merriam Webster Dictionary is: “1-a :the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body; b :a principle or force that is considered to underlie the distinctive quality of animate beings; c : an organismic state characterized by capacity for metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction. 2-a : the sequence of physical and mental experiences that make up the existence of an individual…”. So how do we say abortion isn’t killing babies?

Oh that’s right, they say that a fetus has no rights because it’s not a person. But how is it not a person? Because it can’t survive existence outside of the womb until a specific point of gestation? But here’s my question: Isn’t the growing mass of DNA in a woman’s womb still a living being? If you destroy something that is living isn’t that still understood to be a killing?

Living beings are classified as being alive because they contain cells. This is the reason why a virus is not considered living because it contains no cells. After only two days of fertilization, as the egg and sperm are still making their way down the Fallopian tube, this egg splits into two cells. Yes, two cells, as in more than one – and we only need one for it to be considered alive. Then the fertilized egg plants itself on the lining of the uterus where it begins to grow. You remember, the proof that something is living is growth. So, remind me again, how is this not murder?

Oh right, because it’s the woman’s body and she has a the right to do whatever she wants with it. Really? I know these Pro-Choicer’s stand beside their 9th and 14th amendment but I’m still a bit confused. The 9th amendment really just talks about having human rights or any rights implied by the Bill of Rights that aren’t exactly mentioned. But the 14th amendment is the one I have a problem with. It really was an amendment that was created to help the freed slaves be treated fairly and justly  – basically stating that everyone is entitled to liberty and equality under the law. So how does abortion apply? Well, these crafty self-seekers decided to incorporate the “right to privacy” within this government grade liberty which slipped in the ability to have an abortion because child bearing and birth are a “private matter”. Uhhh? Really? If you’re asking judges to vote on killing something in your body, didn’t you just go public?

Anyway….

Privacy means “the quality or state of being apart from company or observation” as noted in the Merriam Webster’s dictionary. It does not mean liberty which is the state of being free and I’m pretty sure that doesn’t include abortion either. Yes, I do believe we are “free” to make a choice in this country, but not when that choice harms or destroys another life. That’s called irresponsible.

Ironically, Norma McCorvey, a.k.a Roe in Roe vs. Wade, the woman who started this ridiculous witch hunt for self-justification, is now a Pro-Lifer and feels guilty for the life and ideas she had before. Unfortunately, the damage is done and it’s easier for these women and men to kill their children instead of keeping their legs closed. In 2008, there were over eight hundred thousand legally induced abortions reported to the CDC from 49 reporting areas. That’s over 2,000 babies killed a day.

Many people don’t want to believe that embryos are alive. It’s easier if they’re just seen as a mass of cells easily discarded like waste. But from what I’ve seen within the definitions of science, these embryos are very much alive and fulfill the criteria of life or of being alive: they can eventually reproduce at the point of maturity, they have a metabolism, they react to stimuli and they grow. What more does America need to stop killing babies?

Abortion should be illegal just like murder is. If a woman wants to kill her baby then she should reap the consequences of that action on her own terms, not with our government patting her on the back along the way. If you can’t take care of your baby, give it up for adoption to a couple that can’t produce their own child and let them do the job that you are too selfish and too much of a coward to do.
